Latin America at the Crossroads Seminar: Colombia

The third talk in this semester’s Latin America at the Crossroads Seminar will be presented by Dr. David Roll Vélez, Professor at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and will discuss Colombia’s recent political developments. On October 2, 2016 a majority of voters rejected a peace accord between the FAR and the government. A new peace deal, ratified through Congress was signed on November 23, 2016. What effects with this new deal have?

Dr. David Roll Vélez is a Professor and Researcher at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. As the author of ­fifteen books, various articles, and a permanent column in the El Mundo newspaper, his work focuses on democracy in Colombia and Andean countries. He has also produced research in migration, political theory and international relations. Professor Roll has also worked as a consultant for several public ­figures in Colombia, including the President and Ombudsman.
