Andres Cañizales Talk: "Chavez, Media, and Political Conflict in Venezuela"

The School of Liberal Arts, The Stone Center for Latin American Studies, and The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research are pleased to announce a talk by Andres Cañizales, Professor of Communication, from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB) in Venezuela. Dr. Cañizales will give a lecture entitled “Chavez, Media, and Political Conflict in Venezuela” (in Spanish with English translation).

Andres Cañizáles is a researcher at UCAB’s Center of Communication Research (CIC) and the academic coordinator of the Program for Advanced Studies in Freedom of Expression and Right to Information in the same university. He founded the Venezuelan chapter of the Press and Society Institute (IPYS), which he directed from 2002 to 2005. He is the editor of the journal Temas de Comunicación and is currently a visiting fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) in Washington D.C.
