Meet our Past CIPR Post-Doc Researcher, Arturo Sotomayor

The Center for Inter-American Policy and Research (CIPR) is pleased to introduce its first research fellow Arturo C. Sotomayor. Arturo is assistant professor of international relations and Latin American comparative politics at the Department of International Studies of the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE), in Mexico City. His areas of interest include civil-military relations in Latin America; UN peacekeeping participation by South American countries; and Latin American comparative foreign policy, especially vis-à-vis the UN. He is the current coordinator (with Mónica Serrano) of Mexico’s Security Study Group, a Ford Foundation research project focused on analyzing Mexican security challenges. He received his Ph.D. in political science from Columbia University. His publications have appeared in Latin American Politics and Society, Hemisphere, Foro Internacional and other edited volumes. He is currently working on a book manuscript on Latin American engagement in UN sponsored peace operations.
