Fabio Resmini

Visiting Predoctoral Fellow

Fabio Resmini is a Visiting Predoctoral Fellow at the Center for Inter-American Policy and Research at Tulane University. He is a PhD candidate in Political Science at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

His research focuses on the political consequences of party organizational development on the way left-wing parties govern when they obtain office. He is interested in two separate yet interrelated spheres of governmental action – communication and policymaking – and compares the cases of left-wing governments in Bolivia (2006-2019) and Ecuador (2007-2017). He is also working on a taxonomy of different types of charismatic leadership and the role they fulfill within their respective political organization.

As a side project, Fabio is interested in questions of incorporation of unorganized sectors – especially those broadly defined as “middle class” – their relationship with left-wing governments, and their preferences for redistribution.
