Lucas Sorzano Azambuja
CIPR Post-Doctoral Fellow

Lucas Sorzano Azambuja recently earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Johns Hopkins University. His research agenda focuses on capitalist classes, neoliberalism, and far-right political movements in contemporary Brazil. In his dissertation, he examined how distinct relations to the state and varying degrees of economic precarity led Brazilian industry leaders to either remain staunch supporters of former far-right president Jair Bolsonaro or grow increasingly critical. Lucas has a forthcoming article in the journalĀ Politics & Society and is currently in the process of developing his dissertation into a book project.
